It’s that time of year again, yep, Daylight savings time. This year daylight savings time falls on November 3rd, remember that if you do have a smart phone your phone should automatically make the change as for everything else around your home with a clock on it however it will need to be changed.
This time of year its also a good idea to double check your furnace filters to ensure that you have clean air circulating throughout your home. Furnace filters need to be changed periodically with use, and leaving them unchecked is a unnecessary stress to you and your families lungs.
At least we all have an extra hours rest to look forward to this weekend! We hope everyone has a happy Halloween.
Now that all the leaves are falling we will all have to go out there in this chilly weather to take care of mother natures mess. These leaves get everywhere and plug up those darn gutters. While it may be a nuisance we have a few tips that may help with your leaf picking escapades.
If you find yourself wanting to rush through picking up the bulk of your leaves try mowing the lawn and using a bag to pick up all of the leaves. You may also do this and lift your lawnmowers cutting level so it acts almost as a leaf vacuum just taking the leaves into the bag. After you have done this you can place the leaves in a paper bag you can get at your local hardware store and place the bag for pick-up.
Another quick method to pile all those leaves up is to use a leaf blower with an extension cord and make a pile that way, causing less strain then than the other methods. Especially when you think of the traditional raking method of picking up the leaves.
The last part of the clean up process when it comes to fall is cleaning those gutters. Always make sure that you have a ladder that stays secure while you are picking those gutters clean. Leaving gutters clogged causes damage not only to your gutters but also to the side of your home. Make sure you clean those gutters so that doesn’t happen.
We hope these tips help you this fall season! Service Specialties II, Inc. does provide a lawn care service where we clean the leaves for you, for a fee. For more information about the lawn care service we provide please contact our office at 586-469-1415.
Separate the needs from the wants
Often times when shopping for school we become lost on what the absolute necessities are. Make sure you look over your child requirement sheet that the school provides, and discuss with them what they will need for school over what they just seem to want.
Make a list
Often times in a rush, we forget what it is we came to buy at the store. So writing down a list will help you breeze by what you need to purchase.
Starting early will help you get better deals. Starting earlier will also help you look and see the ads to know which stores are offering better deals.
Buy Basics in Bulk
Items such as pencils and pens are best to buy in bulk. Also if you happen to find notebooks on sale, purchase them for the years to come. This will save you time and probably money in the future.
We hope these tips were helpful.
OK, before we start with any troubleshooting, I want you to promise me that you will please obey the cardinal rule of “Garbage Disposal Repair”. That is you will never put your hand in the hopper (down the drain into the disposal)!
Disposal Will Not Turn On (no noise)
If the disposal will not turn on and it is NOT making a humming sound, then there is an electrical problem.
- This may seem obvious, but make sure the disposal is plugged in.
- If it is plugged in then press the Reset button found on the bottom of the unit. If it has reset, the button will be popped out.
- If that does not work, check to see if the circuit breaker has tripped and turned off in the electrical service panel.
- If the breaker has not tripped and the reset button is not popped out, then it’s either a faulty switch or a faulty garbage disposal. First locate the switch that powers the disposal unit. It should be located on the wall but may be under the sink.
- Turn off the circuit breaker at the service panel which powers the disposal.
- Replace the switch.
- Turn power back on at the service panel and check the disposal for operation.
- If the disposal will still not turn on and makes no noise, the garbage disposal is beyond repair and needs to be replaced.
We hope this was helpful please take a look at our other articles for more information!
